Mister Mystery #12

July/Aug 1953 SPM
Here's a horror classic: the much coveted injury to the eye cover! No wonder the guy is sweating profusely as a red hot poker is thrust into his face! This title was one of the one's that lead to comics being blamed for juvenile delinquency in the early 1950s. There was even a U.S. Senate subcommittee hearing on the matter. This resulted in the Comics Code Authority and self-censorship of comics by the publishers. It is estimated that less than 200 copies of this particular issue have survived the ravages of time.
