Picture Parade #1

September 1953 Gilberton
This educational comic was given to school teachers to help students learn about newsworthy items. This classic cover says it all when it comes to the love of the atom in early 1950's. The inside is nothing but propaganda about how splitting the atom will usher in a new period of hope and glory in human history. And how better to exemplify that by showing a touching scene of a boy smiling as he holds his dog while a mushroom cloud looms in the distance! Needless to say, there are tons of A-Bomb panels inside too. Gerber estimates that less than 200 known copies exist.
